The MetaCarta GeoSiteSearch GeoWeb Application is a Web portal drop-in that enables users to conduct a geographic search on any content, with search results ranked on location and text relevance.
For custom applications, GeoSiteSearch also allows users to build or customize a User Interface for specific geographic search purposes, or build into an existing application or portal.

How Does it Work?
The MetaCarta GeoSiteSearch Application processes the text within news stories using our proprietary technology to extract the geographic places mentioned in them, and resolves them to their respective latitude and longitude coordinates. MetaCarta builds a searchable index of stories that may be found using a combination of keywords and a map.
MetaCarta GeoSearch News indexes an extensive collection of more than 4,200 national, international and local news sources every hour. This includes direct news feeds from the Associated Press and Reuters. GeoSearch News acquires thousands of fresh news stories from around the globe every hour.
Could I Add a GeoSiteSearch Portal to My Site?
Absolutely. MetaCarta offers the Application as a drop-in set of code, but also provides a Javascript API to customize the UI if needed. MetaCarta handles all of the technology related to the map, the news index, the display, and anything else related to the NewsMap.
You don't have to be a digital publisher to benefit from a GeoSiteSearch Application. For example, the UDSA's Crop Explorer portal uses MetaCarta's Application to allow farmers and other folks with agricultural interests to search through the UDSA's publications using keywords and a map.
