Ron Matros

President and Chief Executive Officer
Ron brings ten years of experience as CEO - and fifteen years as a senior manager - to MetaCarta. Most recently, Ron was CEO of iConverse, a mobile platform provider, where he successfully completed an acquisition of the company. Prior to iConverse, he was CEO of OpenMarket, a publicly-traded Internet commerce and content management company. Before that, he was COO of WSI, the leading provider of weather information for TV and aerospace. Prior to WSI, he built a broad base of management experience in enterprise sales and marketing, including a position as National Sales Director for Atex, a division of Eastman Kodak.

The New England Business and Technology Association recognized Ron's efforts when in 2002 they awarded him the prestigious Mass eComm Top 10 Leaders Award, recognizing him for leading the effort to develop and deploy information and Internet technology.

Ron holds an MBA from Northeastern University.


John Frank

Founder and Chief Technology Officer
John founded MetaCarta in 1999 while beginning work on his Ph.D. in physics as a Hertz Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While studying the microclimates of forests, John encountered a need for a new way to view collections of documents: geographically. John's vision and leadership have carried MetaCarta to its current position as the pioneer of geographic text search. At MetaCarta, he focuses on new technology explorations and partnerships. He speaks to technical audiences and advises on implementation strategies.

John holds a B.S. in physics with distinction from Yale University where he led Yale's first solar car team to the top rookie seat of Sunyrace 97. In addition to his role as CTO at MetaCarta, John is continuing his graduate studies in condensed matter theory at MIT.


John Donnelly III

Vice President Worldwide Sales and Field Operations

John Donnelly brings 19 years of experience in the technology industry with a strong track record in global sales and business development. He joined MetaCarta directly from Interwise Software, where as the VP, Sales & Business Development he managed all direct and indirect sales functions across the Americas business; and led a 66% increase in revenues from 2004 to 2006. Interwise’s growth led to a very successful acquisition in 2007 by AT&T’s Unified Communication Division. Prior to that, Donnelly was VP Worldwide Sales & Services for CoManage Corporation (Pittsburgh, PA), where he was in charge of all activity related to revenues and customer facing functions globally. He played a significant role in driving the business and was instrumental in setting the stage for the company’s acquisition by Syndesis, LTD.

Other private and public software companies that Donnelly has helped drive to success include: Longitude Systems, Inc. (Chantilly, VA), Kabira Technologies, Inc. (San Rafael, CA), Synon Corporation, now Computer Associates (Larkspur, CA), Automation Intelligence (Reston, VA), Intellicorp, Inc. (Mountain View, CA), ParcPlace – Digitalk Systems (Sunnyvale, CA) and Bachman Information Systems (Cambridge, MA). Donnelly holds a BS in Entrepreneurial Studies and Marketing from Babson College.


Claudine Bianchi

Vice President of Marketing
Claudine brings more than 18 years of experience in technology marketing, coming to MetaCarta after having served as Vice President of Marketing, for eCopy, Inc., a provider of technology that integrates paper-based information into existing business processes and applications. While at eCopy, Ms. Bianchi helped determine corporate direction, strategy, and execution of the firm's plans. She was instrumental in growing revenues from $6 million to over $30 million in 4 years and increasing market penetration from less than 2% to over 8%. In addition she established an international marketing presence in Europe and Japan. Ms. Bianchi built eCopy's marketing organization and was responsible for product management and marketing, strategic alliances and partner marketing, channel marketing, marketing communications and programs, interactive/web marketing, and public/analyst relations.

Prior to eCopy, Ms. Bianchi served as Vice President of Marketing at Newmediary, a B2B e-marketplace that was acquired by cNET. Previously, she was Director of Marketing at Forrester Research, a leading technology industry analyst firm. During her four-year tenure at Forrester, she played a significant role in building Forrester's brand as the leader in emerging technology research. Her career also includes senior marketing positions at Viewlogic, JetForm, and Concentric Data.

Bianchi holds a bachelor's of arts degree in English from Dartmouth College.


Doug Brenhouse

Co-Founder, Vice President, Operations and Finance
Doug is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the business, including finance, human resources and business operations. Doug focuses on developing MetaCarta's internal strengths, and plays a key role in shaping the company's strategic business direction. As such, Doug was recognized as one of the area's "40 Under 40" business leaders and innovators by the Boston Business Journal. Prior to MetaCarta, he helped grow and manage the multi-million dollar composite material operation of Massachusetts Institute of Technology start-up Active Control eXperts, before the company was acquired by Cymer (CYMI).

Doug holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, with a minor in management from McGill University in Montreal Canada, and a Master of Business Administration, Magna Cum Laude, from Babson College, MA.


Rick Hutton

Vice President of Corporate Business Development
Rick is responsible for developing partnerships across MetaCarta's digital content solutions. Rick has been a key contributor in multiple startups, and has extensive experience in internet media and enterprise software businesses. He brings to MetaCarta more than 20 years of experience in strategic business development, operations management, marketing and sales.

Rick joined MetaCarta from VideoLink, a leading production company serving the major TV networks, where as VP of Sales and Marketing he successfully formulated and executed a strategy for aggressive revenue growth. Prior to VideoLink, Rick was at Lycos.com, where he held key positions in strategic business development and product management. Most recently at Lycos, Rick managed the group responsible for all business development in the US, generating over $10M in guaranteed revenue. He was also instrumental in creating Lycos' first wireless-web and voice-portal services.

Prior to Lycos, Rick was with Eprise Corp, a content management software publisher, where he developed and implemented the initial channel sales strategy. Before Eprise, Rick was the VP of Operations and Sales for InfoCellular, Inc., a startup software company, where he was responsible for overall operations and revenue generation. Under his leadership, InfoCellular became a category leader with revenue and profit growth for 18 consecutive quarters. Prior to InfoCellular, Rick was VP of Sales and Service for Donsanto Corporation, a distributor of scientific equipment, where he grew revenue for 6 straight years.

Rick holds a BS in Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology.


Josiah Strandberg

Vice President, Engineering
Prior to joining MetaCarta, Josiah was VP, Engineering at Synopia, a startup focusing on product definition software. Before Synopia, Josiah was a co-founder and Vice President of Software Development at Mission Critical Technologies, a company focused on developing newspaper advertising applications. After the company was acquired by FutureTense 1997, he stayed on and served in a variety of senior engineering management positions at Open Market, divine and Fatwire. Prior to founding Mission Critical, Josiah held multiple senior technical positions at Raytheon, Atex, and XyQuest.

Josiah holds a PhD in philosophy from Brown University.


Bob Warren

Vice President, Products
Bob Warren brings to MetaCarta over 20 years of creative leadership in product management, sales, marketing, and project management in the information technology industry. Since 1993, he has been a key player in the content management space, first as General Manager of Convergent Media Systems, where he and his team launched the first computer catalog on the Web and developed systems that facilitated continuous updating and multi-target delivery to the Web, CD-ROM, and print. Bob then joined FutureTense as Director of Product Management where he was instrumental in growing the business to a successful $125 million acquisition to OpenMarket. He continued on at Open Market and was key in the product reaching the #1 rating in Forrester Research's TechRankings and an increase in revenue of 350%. After OpenMarket was acquired by Divine,Inc., Bob stayed on as the Director of the Content Management Lab where sales increased despite an economic downturn. This division was then purchased by FatWire Software where, just prior to joining MetaCarta, Bob served as Vice President of Field Operations, creating and leading the team responsible for the success and expansion of the North American installed base.

Bob is a graduate of Dartmouth College.
