Ron Matros Joing MetaCarta as President and CEO

Cambridge, MA - May 17, 2004 - MetaCarta, Inc., a leading provider of geographic intelligence, today announced that Ron Matros, an industry veteran with extensive experience in building and leading enterprise software organizations, has joined the Company as President and CEO. Matros will focus on expanding the Company’s reach, solidifying market leadership, and gaining customer traction.

Matros’ successful track record of building high technology organizations will enable the Company to leverage increasing market demand for geographic text search applications across new industry targets.

Most recently, Matros served as CEO of iConverse, a mobile platform provider, where he successfully completed an acquisition of the company. Prior to iConverse, Matros was CEO of OpenMarket, a publicly-traded Internet commerce and content management company. He joined OpenMarket when the company acquired FutureTense, a Web publishing software organization where Matros served as president and CEO. In addition, Matros was Chief Operating Officer for WSI, a leading provider of weather information solutions. Matros also contributed to the growth at Atex Publishing Systems, a division of Eastman Kodak, through several senior management positions.

The New England Business and Technology Association recognized Matros’ efforts when they awarded him the prestigious 2002 Mass eComm Top 10 Leaders Award. The program recognized Matros as one of New England’s top business leaders who made significant strides in development and deployment of information and Internet technology.

John Frank, MetaCarta’s co-founder and former CEO will become Chief Technology Officer, continuing to fuel the company’s technology vision.
